The University of Iceland is strategically positioned in the domestic higher education arena, offering highly diverse studies, allowing students to blend subjects from different disciplines, thereby attaining a unique education. Demand for individuals with a diverse education is constantly growing, and the University of Iceland has responded to this trend by making it easier for students to study more than one subject, and by offering various interdisciplinary programmes. The interdisciplinary programmes are not the responsibility of a particular school or faculty, as several faculties contribute to the programmes. Students undertaking interdisciplinary studies can in most cases select the faculty they would like to graduate from, thereby determining the emphasis of their studies. However, this depends on programme regulations in each case, as well as an agreement made by the contributing faculties. IRIS Research Portal - Interdisciplinary Overview The University of Iceland offers a number of interdisciplinary programmes at the postgraduate level as shown in the course catalogue.
