Provides all permanent teachers of physiology at the University with research facilities. Also, the board of the institute can provide scientists in other fields with facilities as room allows.

The Biomedical Center (BMC)

The BioMedical Center is an official collaboration between research groups working in biomedical molecular life sciences within the University of Iceland, the National HospitalReykjavík University, and other research institutions. The research groups focus on various fields of research, including molecular biology of cancer, stem cell biology, neural biology, gene and transcription regulation, gene therapy, nutritional biochemistry, immunology, and physiology.

The Stem Cell Research Unit is part of The Biomedical Center.

The main purpose of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology (website currently in Icelandic only) is service research, teaching, and basic scientific research in pharmacology and toxicology.

 

Research Centre of Movement Science

The Research Centre of Movement Science is part of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Iceland. Movement sciences involves all sciences that are connected to the movement of the human body in one way or another.

Cancer Research Laboratory

The main purpose of the Cancer Research Laboratory is to conduct basic research that increases knowledge and understanding of the nature of cancer.

Institute for Experimental Pathology at Keldur

The main purpose of Keldur is to conduct basic research in veterinary medicine with expertise in the following disciplines: prionology, virology, bacteriology, parasitology, pathology, immunology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
