The School of Health Sciences hosts a number of events every year. The most significant is the Conference on Research in Biomedical and Health Sciences held every other year and open to the public. Conference on Research in Biomedical and Health Sciences Every other year the School of Health Sciences hosts a Conference on Research in Biomedical and Health Sciences. The goal of the conference is to introduce the latest trends in biomedical and health sciences in Iceland and increase interdisciplinary collaboration within the School of Health Sciences. The programme each year includes around 300 presentations covering most fields of biomedical and health sciences and some sessions entirely in English. The conference is free and open to everyone. Innovation Conference The School of Health Science regularly hosts a conference on innovation in health sciences. The conference is open to everyone within or outside of the University of Iceland who wants to present a project or an idea on innovation in health sciences. Presentation of New Professors The School of Health Sciences celebrates the academic promotion and hiring of new professors with a special introductory lecture. The events include a review of the professors' background and greatest achievements and their own vision for the future. The events end with a chance to celebrate with the new professor. The purpose of the introductory lectures is to present the new professor and their work with the aims of increasing collaboration within the school and honouring the professor's position. Other Events The School of Health Sciences regularly hosts various other events, such as lectures, seminars, and symposiums. The School also participates in centralised events hosted by the University of Iceland. The faculties of the School of Health Sciences often organise their own events.
