The University placed on three new Times Higher Education rankings - Available at University of Iceland

The University of Iceland is ranked among the 300 best universities worldwide in social sciences, 301-400 in the field of educational sciences, and 501-600 in business administration and economics. This is according to the latest rankings of Times Higher Education published yesterday. The University has thus been included in eight Times Higher subject rankings this autumn. 

The lists are based on an evaluation of the same performance indicators as in the overall evaluation, looking at things like research, international research influence, teaching reputation, the learning environment and international outlook. The subject rankings also consider research and publication conventions within the subject.

The Times Higher ranking in social sciences in comprises an evaluation of 870 universities in almost 90 countries. The assessment takes into consideration the University's performance in journalism and mass communication, political science, international affairs, sociology, and geography. Of these, the University of Iceland, is placed between 250 and 300 according to their rankings listed here.

The University, is furthermore, ranked among the best by Times Higher Education in the field of educational sciences, third year running. The evaluation this year includes 700 educational institutes in almost 70 countries and takes into consideration performance in the field of education, teacher training, and academic studies in education. The University of Iceland is placed between 301 and 400 as shown in their overall list here.

The Times Higher Education ranking comprises the best 800 universities in over 70 countries in business administration and economics. The ranking assesses business and management, accounting and finance, and economics and econometrics. The University is placed among the best 600 in this field. The overall ranking is shown here.

Other Times Higher Education rankings published earlier this autumn have placed the University of Iceland in 151-175 in a list of the world's best universities for life sciences, and among the top 250 for physical sciences, places 250-300 for psychology, and among the top 500 for clinical, pre-clinical and health. University of Iceland has, furthermore, been included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings based on their overall performance for a whole decade. 

The University is furthermore placed on 14 ShanghaiRanking Consultancy rankings of the best universities worldwide in subject-specific rankings in 2021. Times Higher Education and ShanghaiRanking Consultancy are generally considered to produce the most prestigious and influential rankings of this kind and the University of Iceland is the only Icelandic university to be included by both.
Another subject-specific rankings from Times Higher Education are expected later this autumn of the world's best universities in humanities.
