Sprettur supports immigrants in university studies

Sprettur supports immigrants in university studies  - Available at University of Iceland

The University of Iceland offers students with immigrant background who wish to pursue higher education to take part in the project Sprettur. The programme offers support to students in upper secondary schools in preparing for university studies. Additionally, the program offer university students with immigrant background with social and educational support. 

This is the fifth year since the programme Sprettur has been offered at the University. There are currently 32 students involved in the project.

What is Sprettur about?

Sprettur is a project of social innovation that aims to create spaces for integration within the framework of eqaul opportunities for education.The programme supports students in their educational process through learning and social companionship and mentoring. 

Who can apply?

You can apply if you:

  • are 18 years old or older
  • are currently in upper secondary school or beggining your university education
  • want to go to university
  • have an immigrant or refugee background 
  • come from a family where few or none have a university education
