Saying a digital goodbye to exchange students

""

This is normally the season for farewell meetings for international exchange students at the University of Iceland to go over various practical issues regarding the examination period, and practical matters before returning home. The International Office thus held a teleconference on Friday, and the turnout was especially good. The participants were located all over the world as many of the exchange students have already returned to their homes due to the COVID-19 epidemic, whereas others have decided to stay in Iceland for the duration of the academic year.

Various practical matters concerning exchange studies were on the agenda, as well as the talk "The art of coming home" offered by the Student Counselling and Career Centre. To conclude there was a short talk on Icelandic Easter eggs and sayings.

Almost 200 international exchange students study at the University of Iceland this spring semester. The International Office and the University Student Council International Officer strive to stay in good contact with the students and check in with them on a regular basis. In order to know even more about the current situation the University sent out a survey asking whether they were still in Iceland, gone home, or on their way back home. Almost all of the students intend to continue their studies at the University of Iceland via distance learning.

We thank all those who took part in the conference on Friday and wish the students good luck in their distance studies.
