A new digital management system for doctoral studies has just been launched at all five schools of the University. The Graduate School oversaw the development of the system along with the Division of Information Technology. The system bears the name PhD Portal and will be accessible to all doctoral students and their tutors in both Icelandic (as Doktorsnáman) and English.
The objective of the PhD Portal is to help students, supervisors and PhD studies coordinators manage planning, milestones, progress to degree and other aspects of doctoral studies. The PhD Portal is based on the University of Iceland regulations concerning the progression of doctoral studies and on the standards and requirements for the quality of doctoral programmes approved by the University Council. The implementation of the system will not affect the rules and procedures of UI Student Registration. PhD studies coordinators in the schools will lead the implementation of the PhD Portal on the school and faculty level over the next months.
The gateway to the system is located at UGLA, the University intraweb.
