Over thirty administrative leaders in Nordic universities recently attended a two day course at the University of Iceland marking the beginning of their participation in a management training programme organised by the Nordic Association of University Administrators – NUAS. The training theme is sustainable worklife in Nordic universities.
Nordic Association of University Administrators, or NUAS, is a collaborative platform for 64 universities in the Nordic countries. The University of Iceland is currently leading NUAS. There are several interest groups operated within NUAS focusing on specific administrative disciplines. These groups organize seminars, workshops and conferences open to university staff.
The NUAS organisation also organise training on a regular basis for leaders in central administration in the NUAS universities. The aim is to better prepare them for important challenges facing administrative leaders in the changing university environment. The training comprises lectures, talks and workshops as well as shared experiences from the participants' work environment.
A new management training began this week at the University of Iceland. A total of 34 administrative leaders took part in the training in this session; but the training is divided into five courses that take place over the course of this year. In addition to meeting up at the University of Iceland, the participants will meet in four other host universities during a span of 13 months.
This year's theme is Sustainable worklife in Nordic universities, focusing on the role and responsibility of the administrative leader to create and maintain a sustainable work life in Nordic universities. Emphasis is placed on diversity and inclusion, change management, You, as a leader, and how to attract and retain talent in university central administration.
Further information on the project can be found on the NUAS website.
