Civil defence is in our hands

""

Announcement from the Rector to University staff and students on 26 March:

„Dear students and staff,

We prioritise sharing important information with you and making sure it is accessible for everyone. For this reason, we have improved the University's COVID-19 website, which contains all the information on the University of Iceland's response to the epidemic. It also includes various scholarly material which will hopefully help as many people as possible.

We have put a lot of work into finalising changes to course assessment, with consideration given to those students who are under the most strain at home and in wider society.

I urge you all to take the instructions from the Chief Epidemiologist and the Department of Civil Protection very seriously. We find ourselves in an unprecedented situation and must all comply completely with advice from scientists and experts.

After midday tomorrow, Friday, up to midday on Monday, all University of Iceland buildings will be thoroughly cleaned in order to reduce the risk of infection. Staff working on site are therefore asked to leave University premises no later than 12 pm on Friday and those coming into work on Monday must arrive after 12 pm. Staff are kindly asked to leave everything tidy to facilitate the cleaning.

Working together, we will succeed in these trials – remember that they will pass.

Civil defence is in our hands.

Best regards,
Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector“
