The University of Iceland is ranked in place 50 on a new list from Times Higher Education for countries with rapidly growing economies.

The Emerging Economies University Rankings comprises a record 698 universities from 50 countries and regions that meet certain requirements concerning the quality of financial markets and economic status. The list includes institutions in countries or regions classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as “Advanced Emerging”, “Secondary Emerging” or “Frontier”.

The lists are based on an evaluation of the same 13 performance indicators as in the overall evaluation of the best universities worldwide. These include factors like research, international research influence, teaching reputation, the learning environment and international outlook. The weight of individual indicators differs, however, on the new list where the rankings take into consideration the unique characteristics of the universities and the environment within which they operate. This approach ranks the University of Iceland in place 50 on the latest Emerging Economies Universities Rankings 2022.

The University has been included in several Times Higher subject rankings this autumn.  It was included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings based on its overall performance for the 11th year running and is furthermore ranked on eight subject-specific rankings.

The University is furthermore placed on 14 ShanghaiRanking Consultancy rankings of the best universities worldwide in subject-specific rankings in 2021.
