A new book on Snorri Sturluson and Reykholt

Snorri Sturluson, historian, scholar and acclaimed author of Heimskringla and Edda was probably Reykholt's most famous occupant. The final volume in a series on Snorri Sturluson has been published by the Icelandic History Institute and Museum Tusculanum Press in Copenhagen.

This book is a collection of essays by eighteen scholars, both Icelandic and international, entitled "Snorri Sturluson and Reykholt - The Author and Magnate, his Life, Works and Environment at Reykholt in Iceland." This volume sheds a new light on Snorri; his creation of literature, politics and cultural importance, but also the place where he chose to reside. The book focuses on Reykholt; touching upon its natural resources, the buildings, and the Reykholt muniments. Furthermore, both Snorra-Edda and Heimskringla are discussed in detail. The book is almost 500 pages with numerous photos and diagrams. 

The editors are Guðrún SVeinbjarnardóttir and Helgi Þorláksson. The Icelandic contributors to this volume are: Viðar Pálsson, Sverrir Jakobsson, Egill Erlendsson, Guðrún Gísladóttir, Benedikt Eyþórsson, Guðrún Harðardóttir, Guðvarður Már Gunnlaugsson, Gísli Sigurðsson, Torfi H. Tulinus and Guðrún Norðdal.
