The Diploma in French is a programme within the Department of Romance and Classical Languages. 60 ECTS is by definition a full time study for one year and therefore the diploma takes one year to complete at the normal pace. Students who wish to continue French Studies at the University of Iceland may do so and get completed courses evaluated as a part of the BA programme.

Admission requirements

Undergraduate studies

Icelandic matriculation examination (stúdentspróf: school leaving examination from secondary school) or equivalent qualification.

Students choose between two specializations and for the French specializatio they are expected to have language proficiency at the A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages but in the French for international relations specialization the language proficiency is expected to be at the B2 level.
