Application Requirements

[Updated November 13, 2019, for applications with the deadline of February 1, 2020.]

Applications to the Viking and Medieval Norse program should be directed to the University of Iceland. A link to the online application form can be found below.

Incomplete applications will not be processed. Late applications are not accepted.

The language of the application and supporting documents is English (though see below regarding transcripts).

Application fee

Citizens of countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA)/The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) (exempting the Faroe Islands and Greenland) are required to pay a fee of 50 EUR  for the handling and processing of their applications. The fee is charged as part of the online application process and is payable by credit card only, VISA or Mastercard. The handling and processing fee is not refundable.

Applicants will be notified of their application results no later than April 1, 2021. Initial notification of admission will be sent by email to the email address given in the application. Please make sure we have your current email address. A formal letter of admission will follow.

An Icelandic ID number (kennitala) or an application ID and a web-key are needed to access the page. It was sent to the email address submitted with the online application.
