Psychological counselling

Katrín Sverrisdóttir and Ásta Rún Valgerðardóttir are clinical psychologists at the UISCCC, both in part-time positions. They provide a short-term, individual counselling in psychological problems and it is required to make an appointment in advance at the UISCCC office.

The office is located at University Centre (Háskólatorg) 3rd floor, tel. 525-4315. Katrín works all day on Tuesday and Wednesday and on Friday morning. Ásta Rún works in the morning every weekday.

Studying at a university is a time of change for an individual. Events such as moving away from home or starting a family are examples of such changes.  Students can also experience their academic studies as being quite demanding. These factors together or separately can lead to a period of emotional or psychological distress and be disruptive while studying.

In addition, the Department of Psychology runs a Student Psychology Clinic where post-graduate psychology students offer psychological services to university students and their children under the supervision of licensed psychologists. The Student Psychology Clinic is located at Aragata 14, the telephone number is 856-2526. Further information is available here.
