Psychological counselling

Katrín Sverrisdóttir and Ásta Rún Valgerðardóttir are clinical psychologists at the UISCCC, both in part-time positions. They provide a short-term, individual counselling in psychological problems and it is required to make an appointment in advance at the UISCCC office. The office is located at University Centre (Háskólatorg) 3rd floor, tel. 525-4315.

In addition, the Department of Psychology runs a Student Psychology Clinic where post-graduate psychology students offer psychological services to university students and their children (under the age of 18 years old) under the supervision of licensed psychologists. The Student Psychology Clinic is located in Nýi Garður, Sæmundargata 12, 101 Reykjavík. The telephone number is 856-2526. Further information is available here.

Studying at a university is a time of change for an individual. Events such as moving away from home or starting a family are examples of such changes.  Students can also experience their academic studies as being quite demanding. These factors together or separately can lead to a period of emotional or psychological distress and be disruptive while studying.
