Orientation

""

Due to the Covid-19 situation the Orientation programme will be to some extent in person, online or both. The events include School welcome meetings, introductory Icelandic lessons, and advice on how to make the best out of your stay in Iceland. For those who have applied for mentorship, the programme ends on a mentor-mingle, campus tour and quiz walk downtown – if the weather allows.

Additionally, there are videos on our Orientation Page, with a welcome address from both our Rector, Dr. Jón Atli Benediktsson, and Student President, Isabel Alejandra Diaz. The Icelandic-Portuguese comedian Vilhelm Neto will also guide through the quirks of Icelandic culture.

Information on teaching and operations at University premises

The University is open to students, but public health restrictions apply. The authorities have given universities additional leeway to use classrooms for on-campus learning, allowing people to keep one metre apart in this context rather than following the two metre rule which generally applies. It remains the case that face masks must be used where it is not possible to keep this distance and that no more than 100 people may be in any one space.
