Navigating Language Diversity in Iceland: Parents' Role in Language Upbringing and Academic Progress of School-Aged Students with Diverse Linguistic Backgrounds 

This article-based doctoral research employs a mixed-methods approach to explore the parental role in the language upbringing and academic progress of students with diverse linguistic backgrounds within Iceland's evolving language context.

The evaluation is in two parts: First the doctoral student ‘s presentation of her report at 10 -11 am in room K-205 in Stakkahlíð. The presentation is open to postgraduate students and staff of the School of Education. The presentation will be on Zoom:  https://eu01web.zoom.us/j/69494084304     

Secondly, a review meeting for a discussion of the report. The meeting is open only to the doctoral student and the evaluation committee. The purpose of the evaluation is twofold, as the rules of the Doctoral School indicate: To evaluate the doctoral student‘s competence in conducting the proposed doctoral research project and to provide her with feedback to do this as well as may be.

External examiners are Dr Fatma Said Assistant Professor at College of Interdisciplinary Studies, Zayed University, UAE and Dr Piet Van Avermaet emeritus Professor at Ghent University, Belgium. Main supervisor is Hanna Ragnarsdóttir Professor, at the School of Education, University of Iceland, co-supervisor Dr Gunhild Tomter Alstad Professor at Inland Norway University. Dr Guðrún Ragnarsdóttir Professor at School of Education is heading the evaluation committee and will conduct the evaluation meeting and Sigrún Sif Eyfeld Jóelsdóttir will act as secretary.
