Auditions for the University Choir

Do you want to meet new people and sing together? The university choir is looking for new members to sing an amazing piece together with an orchestra in the fall.

The auditions will be held Monday September 2nd and Tuesday September 3rd at 16:30 in the Main Building of the University of Iceland. If you expect to show up anytime after 18:00 please let us know via kor@hi.is so we know you are coming. All voices are welcome!

About the choir:

The University Choir is an inseparable part of the university life and counts members from all of the universities in Reykjavík. The Choir sings at all the main events within the University of Iceland and performs on many other occasions as well as having its own concerts. The repertoire is varied, with both Icelandic and non-Icelandic pieces, classical and more contemporary music.

The Choir is also a very social group! We organize rehearsal camps, travels and throw countless social gatherings all year round.The choir is full of cool people and fun times and we encourage everybody to come and check us out! Rehearsals are every Tuesday and Thursday at 17:15 to 19:30.

Audition procedure:

People auditioning will be called in one by one, with only the choir conductor as well as representatives from the choir board present.

The aim of the audition is to hear the range and singing ability.The conductor will go through some scales with you and as well as ask you to sing one song (for international students often a well-known folk song from their country). There is no requirement to prepare this song beforehand, but if you feel more comfortable doing so you can do that.
