New Secretary General of Aurora visits the University

The new Secretary General of Aurora, Ramon A. Puras, visited the University of Iceland end of April. Ramon formally accepted the position 1 May. The visit included a campus tour, meetings with various Aurora representatives at the university, and fruitful discussions of how students and staff can make use of cross-institutional Aurora opportunities.

Jón Atli Benediktsson, the rector of the University of Iceland and Aurora‘s president, also presented the ongoing work of the Aurora Board. Among the projects discussed were strategic planning, building an increasingly connected and varied cooperation in research and teaching, as well as a further expansion of the Aurora cooperation through global partners.

Ramon has years of experience in the field of higher education, both as an academic and administrator. As Aurora‘s Secretary General, he is based at the Aurora Central Office, at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
