The award board is now accepting nominations for the 2024 International Vigdís Prize. Nominations must include reasons for nomination and be submitted by 21 May via the electronic form.
The International Vigdís Prize recognizes individuals, organizations or institutions that have pursued groundbreaking work supporting languages and cultures, for example with projects promoting multilingualism, cultural diversity, translation, and art that explores the importance of language. The Icelandic government, the University of Iceland and the Vigdís International Centre for Multilingualism and Intercultural Understanding founded the award to honor the work of Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, President of Iceland (1980–1996) and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Languages.
