Katrín R. Frímannsdóttir has been hired as the director of strategy and quality management at the University of Iceland. The director of strategy and quality management works closely with senior University administrators and leads a team within the Rector's Office devoted to these issues.
Katrín has an MA in academic administration from the University of Minnesota and a PhD in program evaluation, also from the University of Minnesota. Katrín previously worked as director of program evaluation at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in the US, where she designed, organised and implemented program evaluation systems in education. She also held a senior position on the program accreditation committee. Before that, she was a program evaluator at Mayo Clinic, also implementing program evaluation systems. She has also managed the evaluation of literacy projects at the Directorate of Education. As an independent evaluator, Katrín has also managed an impact assessment on the Research Fund for the Quality Board for Icelandic Higher Education and worked on various other projects related to both external and internal reviews.
Katrín has already met her team and will introduce herself to other staff and administrators shortly after starting work on 1 December. It is clear that Katrín will prove a valuable asset for the University of Iceland thanks to her outstanding and international education, knowledge and experience of development and quality assurance in higher education.
