Sólstafir at the University concert in the University Aula

Sólstafir at the University concert in the University Aula - Available at University of Iceland

It is with great pleasure that we introduce the rock band Sólstafir to the University concert series on Friday 25 March at 11.30 in the University Aula.

The band is rooted in black heavy metal rock but ventured early on into unknown territory and their development in music has been adventurous ever since. Today the band is worshipped on the intentional scene; has toured all over the world and played with the most prestigious extreme rock bands today and is, without a doubt, among the most successful Icelandic rock bands in their genres. This concert is thus a special treat for the those who admire progressive rock that pushes the boundaries.

The concert takes place on Friday 25 March at 11.30. Sólstafir will perform in the University Aula, which is fitting and poetic according to the artistic director. There is a live stream from the concert and a recording will be made available on the concert website. So whether you are in the city, out in the country or anywhere else in the world you can enjoy the wonderful sound from the University concert series and get a taste of the atmosphere on campus. The concert is open to all and free of charge.

About the University Concert series

For decades, half a century really, this tradition of University concerts has been alive at the University of Iceland. These are monthly events during autumn and spring semester, and take place in University buildings. The organiser and artistic director is dr. Arnar Eggert Thoroddsen who says he is guided by the slogan "University for all - Music for all". Arnar says he takes his slogan seriously and will seek collaboration with musicians in diverse genres, such as pop/rock, jazz, classical music or just what is promising at each point in time.
