Guðmundur Ragnar Jónsson, Director of Central administration at the University of Iceland, will chair NUAS for the next two years; a platform for administrative collaboration in the Nordic universities.
NUAS (“Det Nordiska Universitets Administratörs Samarbetet”) is a member-driven collaborative organization established in 1976. Initially, one joint seminar was arranged annually. However, the NUAS’ membership base currently includes 65 universities and university colleges. There are 14 interest groups operated within the network that focus on specific administrative disciplines, with a total of 125 active members. These groups organize seminars, workshops and conferences open to University staff.
The objective of NUAS is to exchange knowledge within university administration, facilitate networking within the field of higher education in the Nordic countries and cooperate on improvements and professionalism in the university sector.
One of the platforms is the NUAS Programme for Leaders in Administration where each participant takes part in 4 -5 seminars, one in each country at one of the NUAS universities. The seminars focus is on the role of administrative leaders in an academic environment.
The University of Iceland will lead NUAS for the next two years which means that the chair and general secretary are employees at the University. The chair of NUAS is Guðmundur Ragnar Jónsson and the general secretary is Snæfríður Ólafsdóttir.
