Syntax changes in the world's languages
The book Syntactic Features and the Limits of Syntactic Change was recently published. Oxford University Press published the book, but its editors are professors at the University of Iceland; Jóhannes Gísli Jónsson, Faculty of Icelandic and Comparative Cultural Studies and Þórhallur Eyþórsson, Faculty of Languages and Cultures.
The book outlines novel theoretical analyses with broader implications for studies of language change. The book is divided into fourteen chapters in addition to an introduction from the editors on syntactic features and the limits of syntactic change. Among the authors are Anton Karl Ingason, assistant professor at the Faculty of Icelandic and Comparative Cultural Studies, and Iris Edda Norwenstein, doctoral student in Icelandic linguistics at the University of Iceland Other authors are specialists in historical linguistics and syntax and work in the United States, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, Canada, Poland, South Korea, Hungary, and Germany. The chapters are built on talks held at DiGS15, a conference on historical linguistics held at the University of Iceland in spring 2015. The book is approx 400 pages.
