Aurora Student Champion - International experience for students

Students at the University of Iceland now have the opportunity to take part in the Aurora Student Champion Scheme organised by the Aurora Student Council. The project focuses on strengthening the bond and collaboration between students in Aurora and the Aurora Alliance universities to work towards the joint Aurora goals.

Aurora is a network of European research intensive universities with high research impact; united by a shared commitment to social relevance and a diverse student body.

Emily Helga Reise, the Student Council international relations officer, says this opportunity is ideal for University students to reach out and take part in Aurora, have a direct impact on decision making and connect with fellow students in the network universities. "This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain global experience during their studies at the University of Iceland, which can prove useful for further studies or in future careers; especially if students are planning to go abroad for studies or work," says Emily.

The Aurora Student Council is looking for ambitious students who are interested in working in an international environment, and wish to strengthen the diversity, participation and impact of students in Aurora. It is important that applicants be interested in sustainability and how to work towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals; which are a key factor in all of Aurora's work. The work is voluntary.

Student participation in Aurora is vital and emphasis is placed on their involvement in all projects organised by Aurora and Aurora Alliance. Students within Aurora have independent meetings where they share ideas and activities from their fights for student interests, but they also take part in almost all of the work within the network and join work groups. The president of the Aurora Student Council has a seat on the Aurora board guarding the students' interest.
