New Deans of School and Heads of Faculty at the University

Nine new heads of faculty took office at the University of Iceland on 1 July at the same time as the new dean at the School of Social Sciences.

Stefán Hrafn Jónsson is the new dean of the School of Social Sciences. He replaced Daði Már Kristófersson who has held the post for the last seven years, or from 2013.

Professor Jónína Einarsdóttir is the new faculty head for the Faculty of Sociology, Anthropology and Folkloristics. She takes over from professor Stefán Hrafn Jónsson.

Professor Ása Ólafsdóttir is the new faculty head for the Faculty of Law. She replaces professor Aðalheiður Jóhannsdóttir.

Professor Gylfi Magnússon is the new faculty head for the Faculty of Business Administration. He takes over from professor Ingi Rúnar Eðvarðsson.

Professor Urður Njarðvík is the new faculty head of the Faculty of Psychology. She takes over from professor Daníel Þór Ólason.

Professor Sólveig Anna Bóasdóttir is the new head of faculty for the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies and takes over from professor Rúnar Már Þorsteinsson.

Professor Ársæll Már Arnarson is the new faculty head for the Faculty of Health Promotion, Sports and Leisure Studies. He takes over from professor Anna Sigríður Ólafsdóttir.

Kristín Jónsdóttir, associate professor, is the new head of faculty for the Faculty of Education and Pedagogy. She replaces Jónína Vala Kristinsdóttir, associate professor.

Freysteinn Sigmundsson, research scientist is the new faculty head for the Faculty of Earth Sciences. He replaces Professor Magnús Tumi Guðmundsson.

Professor Einar Örn Sveinbjörnsson is the new head of faculty for the Faculty of Physical Sciences. He replaces professor Oddur Ingólfsson.
