Fees

Tuition fee

There are no tuition fees charged in the Viking and Medieval Norse Studies programme. This applies equally to students of all nationalities.

Registration fee

The University of Iceland charges an annual registration fee of ISK 75,000 (approximately 530 EUR or 600 USD depending on the exchange rate). 

Students in Viking and Medieval Norse Studies completing their third semester at Aarhus University, the University of Copenhagen or University of Oslo and then returning to Iceland for the fourth semester pay a full registration fee for the second year to the University of Iceland.

Students in Viking and Medieval Norse Studies doing their second year of the programme (both third and fourth semesters) at the University of Oslo pay a reduced registration fee to the University of Iceland. Students going to Oslo (for one or two semesters) also pay a small semester fee (Norw. “semesteravgift”) to the University of Oslo for each semester spent there.

Application fee

Citizens of countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA)/The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) (exempting the Faroe Islands and Greenland) are required to pay a fee of ISK 20,000 (approximately EUR 135 or USD 150 depending on the exhange rate) for the handling and processing of their applications. The fee is charged as part of the online application process and is payable by credit card only, VISA or Mastercard. The handling and processing fee is not refundable.
