Please note that applications are not valid until certified transcripts of records and degree diplomas are received by the University of Iceland, along with any supporting documents required. The deadline for submitting supporting documents is specified in the confirmation email received when submitting the application. Scanned or photocopied diplomas are not accepted. Further information on supporting documents Applicants who have submitted all supporting documents can expect a response to their application at the end of May through the Communication Portal. Application status Applications will be processed as soon as possible after the application deadline, if all supporting documents have been submitted. The response to your application will only appear digitally in the Communication Portal, under the “Applications – overview” tab by the end of May. You can access the Portal using your email address and password you created when you applied for study at the University of Iceland. VIEW APPLICATION STATUS Accepted application If your application is approved, the UI registration fee must be paid to confirm your enrollment. You pay the registration fee under the „Application overview“ tab in the Communication Portal and you can pay with a credit card (debit or credit) in one payment or with a card loan. The deadline is 4 July for the autumn semester and 6 January for the spring semester. The registration fee is non-refundable. Username and password for accepted applicant If your application is accepted and you have paid the registration fee, you can get a username and password for Ugla, the UI intranet, provided you have an Icelandic ID number (kennitala). You do this under the “Application overview” tab in the University of Iceland Communication Portal, using the email address and the password you created when you applied for the studies at the University. This is due to the fact that the Directorate of Immigration requires that applications for residence permits are received by the Directorate no later than 1 November, in order to issue permits before the start of Spring semester classes.
