The Faculty of Law offers a structured doctoral programme upon completion of a master's degree. The programme is 180 ECTS towards a Ph.D. degree.

About the Studies
A doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Law is worth 150 ECTS. In conjunction with dissertation work doctoral students shall attend classes, depending on the research proposal, e.g. in methodology and legal philosophy. Those doctoral students who completed their master's studies at an Icelandic university are required to complete part of their doctoral studies abroad.
