International Business and Project Management

This is a one-year graduate program offered by the School of Business.The focus of the program is on management of international companies and in particular international projects. The program prepares students for a career in international business and can be a gateway to further studies at the doctoral level.

About the Programme

The course work amounts to 60 ECTS and the thesis is 30 ECTS for a total of 90 ECTS.

Students take eight courses over two semesters, starting in late August, and then write a thesis during the following summer. The thesis is written under the supervision of a faculty member and submitted in early September.

Students that complete the program successfully graduate in October.

Admission requirements

Graduate studies

The requirements for admission are a BA or BS degree. As a general rule, applicants shall have completed their undergraduate studies with a first-class GPA (7.25 or above).

Proof of English Proficiency Requirements 
All international applicants whose native language is not English, are required to provide proof of English proficiency. 
This can be in the form of TOEFL (ibt), IELTS (Academic), Cambridge English (CAE or CPE) or PTE Academic and PTE Academic online tests. Please note that your scores from the English test must be less than two years old by 1st of September in the year you intend to start your programme. 

 The required minimum scores are TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.5, PTE 58.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the programme student should have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the field of international business and management of international projects, and be familiar with the nature of projects and methods for planning and implementing projects by international companies.

Opportunities 

Students have the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience. Students at the University of Iceland may apply for an Erasmus+ grant to fund traineeships or research work in European companies or institutes. It is also possible to pursue a traineeship for up to twelve months after completing a degree. 

Social Life

Students at the Faculty of Business administration run strong student associations that protect the students' interests and organise various events during the academic year.
