Orientation Days for new International Students are held at the beginning of the semester. The aim is to introduce students to the support services offered, meet fellow students and help them adjust to a new culture. In order to facilitate getting around campus, the Student Council organises guided walks around the many University buildings. 

The Orientation Days will be held 21-23 August and the programme includes courses, organised walks around campus, reception with music and light refreshments, School welcome meetings and social events.

PROGRAMME

The courses include, The Student Counselling and Career Centre “The Keys to Success at the University of Iceland” introducing keys that open doors to success during your academic stay at the University of Iceland.

Furthermore, enthusiastic students can participate in a crash course in Icelandic - Icelandic in 90 minutes. The National and University Library of Iceland will also introduce their services; opening hours and reference searching.

A Welcome Reception will be held on Thursday 22 August at 16:00 in Háskólatorg (University Centre). Jon Atli Benediktsson, Rector of the University of Iceland will greet students, and they will get a chance to meet fellow international students as well as students of the International Committee of the Student Council and staff of the International Office. There will be hot dogs (regular and vegan) on the BBQ and music. 

Please note that there is no formal welcome meeting at the School of Health Sciences and students should contact the School of Health Sciences, for information.
