Postphoned due to COVID-19

Geologist from the University of Iceland will guide the tour at Helgafell by Hafnarfjörður. S/he will explain the natural phenomena encountered en route, and participants will explore various caves, fissures and crevices.

Remember to dress warmly in good shoes and bring provisions for the journey.

The tour is a collaboration between the Icelandic Touring Association and the University of Iceland. Hiking trips with Science tips (Með fróðleik í fararnesti).

Participants of all ages have enjoyed these hikes with the University of Iceland and the Icelandic Touring Association in recent years, which combine the experience and knowledge of the tour guides with the knowledge of academics. The aim is to create interest in science and outdoor activities, especially children and young people, with this welcome alternative.

Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome. No need to book - simply show up.
