The University of Iceland on Round University Ranking of leading world universities

The University of Iceland is ranked in 364th place on a new list from Round University Ranking (RUR), an international world university rankings system that measures performance of leading world universities. The University of Iceland is the only Icelandic university that made the list. Other lists from the RUR Ranking Agency within individual fields of study furthermore confirm the overall strength of the University internationally.

Round University Rankings (RUR) has published a list over the best universities in the world for over a decade.  Furthermore, RUR offers consulting services for universities to strengthen their competitiveness in the higher education sector. Their ranking system measures performance by 20 unique indicators and 4 key areas of university activities: teaching, research, international diversity, financial sustainability. Data from the international company Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytic is used in the evaluation.
The agency recently published a new world university ranking for 2019 covering 820 higher education institutions all over the world. The University of Iceland is ranked in 364 place on the list this year, and is up 25 seats between years.

In addition to the list of overall ranking the Round University Ranking publishes the RUR Subject Rankings in six fields of study; Humanities, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, Social Sciences. According to RUR Subject Rankings the University ranks number 166 in Life Sciences; 300 in the Humanities; 305 in Medical Sciences and Natural Science; 346 in Social Sciences, and finally 353 in Technical Sciences. A detailed overview of the University's performance is posted on the website of RUR Rankings.

The list from Round University Ranking confirms yet again the international strength of the University of Iceland in diverse fields of study, and supports the analysis of Times Higher Education World University Rankings in individual fields of study published earlier this autumn. The University of Iceland has never been ranked on as many lists of Times Higher Education, and is the only Icelandic university featured on the magazine’s lists. The University of Iceland is, furthermore, the only Icelandic University that ranks on the prestigious ShanghaiRanking's Academic Ranking of World Universities, whether it is the overall performance of the University or in individual fields of study.

The list of the Round University Ranking and the parameters of the evaluation can be found on the Agency website.
