Out into the world during the UI International Days

Out into the world during the UI International Days - Available at University of Iceland

Rendez-vous with former exchange students and representatives from embassies at the International Festival, presentations on study abroad opportunities, lectures, karaoke, a photo competition on Instagram; all this features as part of the International Days ahead, 8 - 11 November.

The University of Iceland's International Days are celebrated annually to emphasise the various opportunities for students, teachers and staff, which are made possible through the university’s active participation in international cooperation.
Presentations on exchange studies and traineeships abroad, which are open to UI students, will be held both on the main campus and in Stakkahlíð and online meetings with exchange students discussing their experience will, furthermore, be possible.

The Study Abroad information centre introduces successful ways to seek study or training abroad and university staff members can learn about Erasmus+ teacher and staff exchanges outside Europe.

Parallel with the International Days, the Aurora Biannual conference will be held online in which the University of Iceland is actively participating. Part of the programme is open to everyone, including a World Café on mental health issues, where students and staff from ten universities will discuss ways to improve mental health. The World Café is organized by the Aurora Student Council.

A Ukrainian refugee performs at International Festival

The main event of the International Days, the International Festival, takes places on Thursday 10 November between 11:30 am and 1 pm at the University Centre.  During the Festival, students can learn about exchange studies, traineeships and more and speak to other students who have previously gone on an exchange and current international exchange students, representatives from embassies and various Icelandic organisations. University schools and faculties, as well as the members of staff of the International Office will be present and provide information on studies abroad.

Yana Prydhodko, a cellist from Ukraine, and member of the Dnieper Symphony Orchestra, will perform. She was forced to flee Ukraine in March due to the Russian invasion. Ingibjörg Helga Steingrímsdóttir accompanies her on piano.

Students can, furthermore, take part in a photography competition on Instagram in connection with the International Days. The competition theme is "highlights of my exchange" where students can send photos from their exchange studies, both in Iceland and abroad. A substantial prize is awarded for the best and most popular photo.

The Student Cellar will be one of the central points during International Days where a lot of fun can be had! This includes karaoke on Thursday night, 10 November and live music on Friday 11 November at the International Days closing party.
