Fourteen students study in Asia this summer

Fourteen students at the University of Iceland will study in India, China, and South-Korea at four of the University's partner universities this summer. An increasing number of students at the University of Iceland are taking part in summer courses at various universities all over the world.

Three students are taking summer courses in Nordic Centre China which is located at Fudan University and facilitates collaboration between researchers and students in the five Nordic countries and China. Fudan is considered one of the three most prestigious universities in China. The University of Iceland is one of the 27 Nordic member universities. The courses are ambitious and include field trips to large companies and institutes. A limited number of students from member universities is accepted each year.

Four students go to the Nordic Centre India (NCI) in New Delhi, India. NCI facilitates student participation from the other Nordic member universities at several universities in India. The summer courses cover Indian studies, Hindi, and environmental issues. All of the students from the University of Iceland chose to attend a course on gender and society in contemporary India at the University of Hyderbad.

Three students will attend Tsinghua University in Beijing China; a university that is considered the best research university in China and ranked in place 17 worldwide according to QS World University Rankings. They offer seven courses in the field of environmental issues, international affairs, and gender studies. Students are, furthermore, given the opportunity to gain insight into Chinese culture and the Tsinghua spirit through various cultural experience activities.

Finally, four students will take part in summer courses at the Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in Seoul, Korea. SKKU organises their annual international summer semester offering courses in various fields of study, including Korean language and culture where they bring together students and faculty from Korea and around the world.
