Dear applicant, Thank you for applying for a study programme at the University of Iceland. You need to stay up to date with the progression of your application under the “Application – overview” tab in the University of Iceland Communication Portal. Please carefully read the drop-down windows below, as they contain important information for the process of your application, especially how to send your certified supporting documents. Certified supporting documents With an application for studies at the undergraduate level, you need to submit a matriculation examination certificate or its equivalent. If you have not completed your matriculation exam from an Icelandic secondary school, you can find further information on this page. With an application for a study at the graduate level you need to submit a transcript of records and diploma from your previous university study at the undergraduate level (BA/BS/B.Ed.). With an application for a doctoral programme, a transcript of records and diploma from your previous university studies both at the undergraduate and graduate level needs to be submitted. Photocopies or scanned transcripts are not valid documents. Applicants who are finishing or have finished an undergraduate programme at the University of Iceland after 1980 do not need to submit certified transcripts and diploma from that study. Application processing Applications will be processed as soon as possible, or at the latest at the end of May, if all supporting documents have been submitted. The response to your application will only appear digitally in the Communication Portal, under the “Applications – overview” tab. You can access the Portal using the method you chose when you applied; e-mail & password, or Island.is. Payment of the registration fee If your application is approved, the University of Iceland registration fee must be paid to confirm your enrollment. You pay the registration fee under the „Application overview“ tab in the Communication Portal and you can pay with a credit card. The deadline to pay the registration fee of ISK 75,000 is 4 July. The registration fee is non-refundable. Username and password for Ugla - intranet If your application is accepted and you have paid the registration fee, you can get a username and password for Ugla, the UI intranet, provided you have an Icelandic ID number (kennitala). You do this under the “Application overview” tab in the UI Communication Portal. If you require further information, please email admission@hi.is Disability services Please contact the Student Counselling Centre on the third floor of the University Centre before your classes begin if you want to request accommodations in your studies or exams due to disability, chronic illness or learning difficulties.
