About the lecture

In this presentation Dr. Andreas Walmsley will discuss what he believes to be key characteristics of employment in tourism and hospitality and how they relate to youth employment. He will draw in particular on the results of a recent study of a sample of over 200 youth (ages 14-17) conducted in collaboration with the Springboard Charity in the UK as well a paper currently in progress on factors that influence the selection of hospitality at university. The presentation will highlight the complexity of employment issues in tourism, and how people, particularly youth, relate to the sector.
