Dr. Marian Tupy, an expert at the Cato Institute in Washington, will give a talk and participate in discussion at the University of Iceland. Tupy is the co-author of the book Superabundance: The Story of Population Growth, Innovation, and Human Flourishing on an Infinitely Bountiful Planet, which claims there is no need to worry about population growth, because each additional human being creates more value than he consumes. Resources will not be exhausted because of population growth, rather prices will fall. Topics to discussed include:

  • Why all the predictions of apocalypse?
  • What causes a general pessimism about the future?
  • Has mental progress equaled material progress?
  • How can continued progress be ensured?
  • How to prepare for the young and energetic people?
