Veröld - Hús Vigdísar
Auðarsalur
The Institute of International Affairs at the University of Iceland, Varðberg – Association for Western Cooperation and International Affairs, the Icelandic Association of Political Scientists and the Institute of Public Administration and Politics at the University of Iceland are hosting a panel discussion on foreign affairs, security and defence in Auðarsalur, Veröld – the House of Vigdís, on Thursday, November 14, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
In a time of significant changes and challenges in the international community, it is essential for voters to gain a clear understanding of the parties' policies on defence and security issues.
The international community is marked by diverse challenges and increased tensions in relations between major powers. Conflicts are threatening security around the world, with increased migration at the same time as substantial actions are needed to counter the climate crisis. The decline in democratic values and the rise of authoritarian tendencies also create uncertainty about the future of liberal democracy. What impact does this changing global landscape have on Icelandic foreign policy? How do the political parties intend to respond to the challenges we face on the international stage?
Representatives from political parties running in the upcoming elections will participate in the panel discussion to present and discuss their policies on foreign, security, and defence affairs.
Please note that the event will take place in Icelandic.
