American novelist Jane Smiley will give a talk at the National Museum of Iceland, Tuesday 26 March at 4pm.

Jane Smiley won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1992 for her novel A Thousand Acres (1991). She spent some time as a Fulbright Scholar in Iceland in 1976. In her talk, “What I did in Iceland” she will elaborate on her experiences of Iceland and how it influenced her writing.

Lilja Alfreðsdóttir, Icelandic Minister of Culture and Education, will open the event.

Light refreshments will be served after Jane Smiley's talk.

The event is held through the collaboration of the Fulbright Commission in Iceland, the U.S. Embassy in Iceland, the School of Humanities at the University of Iceland and Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages.
