Public lecture by India´s Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Friday 19 August

The lecture will be held in the University of Iceland Aula and starts at 10 am. All are welcome as far as capacity allows.

This year marks 75 years since India became an independent nation and 50 years since Iceland and India established diplomatic relations. The two countries work together in many different areas, for example in business affairs, culture, science and technology , and language teaching.

On Friday 19 August at 10 am, Meenakashi Lekhi, India´s Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, will hold a public lecture entitled India@75: India´s Role in a Changing World. The lecture will cover relations between Iceland and India over the past 50 years, the two nations´ contributions on the international stage, lessons learned from the pandemic, and climate issues.

Meenakashi Lekhi worked as a lawyer for many years and was first elected to the Parliament of India in 2014. She has built a reputation based on social reform and protecting the rights of women and children.

On Friday 19 August at 10 am, Meenakashi Lekhi, India´s Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, will hold a public lecture entitled India@75: India´s Role in a Changing World.
