Guðmundur Þór Valsson at the National Land Survey of Iceland will give a lecture entitled „How the ongoing Reykjanes unrest affect the Reference systems, Datum and Geoid in Iceland”

Abstract

The ongoing unrest in Reykjanes is causing serious deformation to the geodetic reference systems in the area. Inproper use of reference systems under those circumstances can lead to errors in data, misinterpretation of data and increased cost in construction work.

In this lecture the nature of geodetic reference systems, datums and geoids will be explained and how possible ways to deal with deformation in near real time.
