Súsanna Björg Vilhjálmsdóttir, PdD student at the University of Iceland, gives the talk “If I can speak, can I write?: English language teaching and writing different text types at lower secondary school”.

Developing genre awareness in constructing textual meaning, linguistically and schematically, is of essence for future educational purposes and career success. This lecture considers the purpose of writing texts at secondary level and how offering a diverse selection of text types as assignments can assist students in acquiring effective linguistic choices in producing coherent and meaningful texts later in life.

The talk will be published on the facebook page of The Vigdís Instutute and Centre on 27 April 2021:
