The Master of Science program in Project Management presents an open seminar: Public Sector and Management Consultants: A Love Story.

Join us for an insightful seminar on the evolving relationship between the public sector and management consultants (MCs).The public sector is increasingly relying on MCs to provide various services that the sector is unable to perform or deliver itself. Adeel Akmal, an assistant professor at the School of Business at the University of Iceland, will shed light on his research that has highlighted this ongoing reliance on MCs. This reliance has raised questions about value for money, particularly when the funds are sourced from taxpayers. This seminar acknowledges the growing reliance on MCs, a trend not expected to wane soon, therefore underscoring the importance of under

standing how to improve the outcomes of these interactions.Drawing from Adeel’s past five years of research conducted in New Zealand, including official information requests and interviews, Adeel will offer practical insights into enhancing the efficacy of MCs, highlighting the need for more effective collaboration between MCs and the public sector. Through the lens of activity theory, we'll delve into actionable approaches for creating sustainable, community-centered outcomes while optimizing the use of public resources.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable perspectives on the evolving relationship between the public sector and management consultants. The seminar will be held in English.

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, April 23rd, from 12 pm to 1 pm in classroom HT-101 in Háskólatorg.

Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend!
