Secret bunkers, weird art, gold, rabbits and tree houses are among the treasures found in Öskjuhlíð. The area is full of surprises and hidden treasure in the trees and stone quarries. The tour is a circle around Öskjuhlíð in the company of Stefán Pálsson, historian and sessional teacher at the University of Iceland who will enlighten participants about Icelandic history, community and a little on geology. Don't forget to bring provisions. The tour takes approx.. 2 hrs.
The tour is a collaboration between the Icelandic Touring Association and the University of Iceland and combines the experience and knowledge of the tour guides with the knowledge of academics at the University of Iceland. The aim is to create interest in science and outdoor activities with this welcome alternative.
Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome.
