I am a lecturer and researcher at the School of Education at the University of Iceland. The research and development projects I have participated in focus on early childhood education, digital technology in schools, makerspaces, and science education. Digital technology offers many opportunities in education, including an increased emphasis on integrated and creative learning. However, it also requires teachers to develop the skills needed to use it purposefully and appropriately in all aspects of their work. At the same time, digital citizenship is becoming increasingly important, as schools need to foster students competencies that enable them to become active participants in the digital democratic society in a positive and constructive manner.
