The main responsibility of the Division of Academic Affairs at the University of Iceland is to oversee and support teaching, learning and the quality of education. This includes:
Curriculum development and management
Overseeing the development, execution, and continuous improvement of academic programmes and courses.
Academic policies and standards
Establishing and maintaining academic policies, standards, and procedures to ensure high-quality education.
Professional development for academic staff
Providing support and professional development opportunities for academics to enhance teaching and research.
Student academic services
Offering services related to student admissions, registration, academic advice and support to help students succeed.
Quality assurance
Monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and learning, including the accreditation of programmes and assessment of educational outcomes.
Academic calendar and scheduling
Managing the academic calendar, course scheduling, and timetabling to ensure smooth operation of academic activities.
The Division of Academic Affairs ensures the academic integrity, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of study programmes at the University of Iceland.
The Academic Affairs Office handles various academic and administrative matters, working closely with the Academic Affairs Committee and the Rector's Office. Staff oversee publication of the UI online course catalogue, as well as ensuring the eligibility of external examiners. In cooperation with the Rector's Office, the Academic Affairs Office also publishes and revises regulations established by the University Council.

The purpose of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is to provide instructors at the University of Iceland with professional assistance in developing teaching methods. In addition to general consulting and development work, an emphasis is placed on continuing education courses for teachers in the fields of information technology and pedagogy.

The Centre for Writing offers writing support for all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Iceland, whether writing in Icelandic or English. Writing support sessions can be booked at either the School of Education Library or the National and University Library.

The Department of Digital Learning and Media is responsible for the planning and implementation of various digital learning solutions, including the Canvas learning management system. In addition, the department handles the production of educational and promotional videos for the University.

The Examinations Office organises examination timetables and prepares and managers general examinations, in consultation with school and faculty administration.
The office is responsible for the safekeeping of examination materials and their distribution to exam locations, as well as delivering written examination papers to teaching staff. The office also supervises distance examinations and digital examinations.

The Graduate School upholds the quality of graduate programmes at the University of Iceland, promoting a stimulating academic environment for graduate students and robust, internationally competitive graduate research.

The University Council appoints five individuals to the board of the Graduate School, representing each of the five schools. They assist the director, who chairs the board. One representative from the Agricultural University of Iceland and a PhD student also sit on the board.

The Recognition Office coordinates various tasks associated with the evaluation of student applications, especially handling international applications, as well as applications for exemption from formal admission requirements.
The office also functions as the Icelandic ENIC/NARIC office, in accordance with an agreement between the University and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. The ENIC/NARIC office handles academic recognition and evaluation of qualifications.

The Student Counselling Centre (UISCC) offers students counselling and support during their studies, e.g. regarding academic choices, study skills, and tools for job searching. Also, the UISCC provides support services for students with disabilities or specific learning difficulties during studies and exams, as well as offering psychological services.

The University Centre Service Desk offers a variety of services and is the point of access for service units located at the University Centre. At the Service Desk, students can for instance obtain various certificates and transcripts of their academic records, purchase print credits, register for courses run by the Student Counselling and Career Centre, get a password for Ugla, or pick up a student access card.
