Equality days 2016

Equality Days at the University of Iceland are now being held for the 8th time. The programme runs from Monday, October 10th until Friday, October 21st. As usual, all events are free of charge and open to all.

Equality days combine various aspects of equality and feminism and focus on diversity, privilege, silencing, the struggle for equality, power and discrimination. The emphasis is on the opportunities created by placing the ideas of the normative – what is "normal" – and the subordinated under the microscope.

The programme is varied and based on inter-disciplinary collaborations where attempts are made to combine festivity and a critical view on the current state of equality issues.

We try to create an open discussion, a better understanding of equality and to increase the visibility of this important issue, utilizing the strength of the broad range of people operating in the field of equality. The aim of Equality Days is to promote discussions and understanding of issues of equality.

All Icelandic universities participate in Equality Days, further information is on the website.
