About the exam
- The exam assesses the participants' Icelandic language skills at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Four components are tested: reading comprehension, listening, writing, and speaking.
Registration and fee
- The Student Registry registers applicants with an approved application for undergraduate studies for the exam, and they will receive information from the University of Iceland about the exam location and time.
- The exam fee is ISK 35,000.
Time and location
- The exams are held on site and take place in the buildings of the University of Iceland. The exam sites are easily accessible.
- Applicants may request to take the exam as a distance exam, in accordance with the University's rules. Applicants outside the capital area may take the entrance exam at a certified learning centre. If applicants are abroad, the exam site must be a university or an embassy/consulate. Further information can be found under Distance Exams.
- The exams will take place at the University of Iceland on June 15–16, and distance exams will take place on June 22–23, after the application deadline for undergraduate studies has passed.
- The exams take two days. Reading comprehension, listening and writing exams are held on the first day and take approximately 4 hours. Oral exams are held on the second day. They take approximately 30 minutes, and participants are assigned an appointment time to take the oral exam. It is very important to arrive on time for the exams. It is possible that oral exams will be held over several days in June, depending on the level of participation.
- Participants take reading comprehension, listening and writing exams in the digital assessment platform Inspera.
- The University of Iceland provides participants with computers and headphones to take the exams. Test takers are provided with notepads and pens. No other aids are permitted during the exams.
