Abstract

I am an expert on medieval learned works and Old Norse literature, within which I have primarily researched the supernatural and paranormal, monsters, proto-racism and dehumanization towards ethnic others, e.g. blámenn, skrælingjar, Fennoscandic tröll.
Other research interests include classical influence on medieval Icelandic literature, maternal imagination, folklore, horror in literature and film, creative writing in education, teaching medieval literature in middle and high schools.

Currently I am working on a monograph on blámenn as dehumanized ethnic others, the first of its kind.
