The University of Iceland will launch its new website on Monday, 14 September. The University's websites attract a large number of visitors and contain one of the most extensive collections of online content in Iceland.
The redesign brings greater consistency in both appearance and functionality across the University's web services. The University’s English website was updated previously and already features the new design.
The site has been developed around the needs of different user groups, with its design and functionality informed by extensive user research and needs analysis.
The project has been carried out in close collaboration with web editors across the University's Schools, IT Services, and other stakeholders.
The redesign delivers an improved user experience, easier access to study information, enhanced web accessibility, a more powerful search engine, and a range of new features.
Now users can switch directly between the Icelandic and English websites and, where available, be taken straight to the corresponding page in the other language.
The new website reflects the University's updated content strategy and provides a more focused and user-centred experience for the main audiences of hi.is.
The content management system is also significantly more powerful, easier to use, and more secure.
Suggestions from users on improvements are, as always, encouraged and welcomed.
It is possible to send comments from individual pages on the web or to email vefstjori@hi.is.
